OKULUMUZ

Florya Kindergarten International School offers an enriched international education program with well-qualified and professional teachers and stimulating curriculum. From all nations, we create an ideal pre-setting where children can learn while having fun. We want to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners by teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but all through their lives. We are allowing them to learn own pace and in the ways that are best for them.
Our curriculum is based on principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage, the National Curriculum of England, which sets standarts for learning, development and care for children from three to five. Key stage 1 begins for our children at the beginning of Year 1. The foundation stage is important in its own right, and preparing children for later schooling.

The Early Learning Goals set out what is expected of most children by the end of the Foundation Stage. Children learn through doing, exploring, discovering, creating and questioning at our school. Significant learning periods are spent in small group activities to allow for individual attention. We believe that playing is one of the the ways to make sense of world in which the children live, and helps them to develop their emotional, physical, intellectual and social skills. Our teachers plan activities in six main areas of learning and development.

Six areas of learning process:

*Communication Language and LiteracyReading, writing, speaking and listening.
*Problem Solving, Reasoning and NumeracyCounting, sorting, shapes, patterns, measuring, adding, taking away.
*Personal Social and Emotional DevelopmentThoughts and feelings, becoming independent,
*Knowing and Understanding of the WorldScience, history, geography, ICT, design and tecnology.
*Creative DevelopmentMusic, art, role play6. Physical DevelopmentLarge and fine movements- activities from cutting with scissors to riding bike.

Each area has Stepping Stones and Early Learning Goals

The teachers use themes to organize instruction of the curriculum. A thematic curriculum enables children to immerse themselves in a particular area of study; they often want to know “all” about it. Theme helps the children to develop a sense of direction and purpose in their learning. It enables the teacher to present new information which the children can then combine with what they already know. Through theme based activities, the children become able to integrate learning from all six areas of learning and development. In addition to this, the educational program that we use includes four Themes within these areas helps to keep each child happy, healthy and learning.

A Unique Child recognises that each child is a competent learner from birth, who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
